Sharing the Data Folder on the Network
Sharing
in Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8
Configure sharing on the host machine.
Before sharing your data folder (on the host machine)
you must set up your computer to allow sharing between all computers in
the network.
- Open Network and Sharing Center:
- In Windows 7 or Vista click the Start button
and type Network, then select
Network and Sharing Center
from the list that appears.
- In
Windows 8 open Computer, then
right click on Network and
choose Properties.
- Click Change
Advanced Sharing Settings.
- Under File and
printer sharing select Turn
on file and printer sharing.

- Under Password
protected sharing select Turn
off password protected sharing.

Share the Data Folder
- On the host computer, right click on the Gym Assistant
data folder and select Share
With / Specific People.
- In the File Sharing window that appears,
click the drop-down menu and select Everyone.

- Click Add.
- Click the drop down menu triangle on the Everyone line in the list and select
Read/Write.

- Click Share.

Note: The shared folder will be displayed. The
path to the new shared folder will be in the form
\\ComputerName\FolderName,
where
ComputerName is the name of the
host computer
and
FolderName is the name of the shared
folder.
This is the path that all other workstations will use to locate the data
folder.
Sharing
in Windows XP
- Right-click on the Gym Assistant data folder and
then select Sharing and Security.

- Check the box labeled Share
this folder on the network.
- Check the box labeled Allow
network users to change my files.
- Click OK.
